In response to recent questions about where to find Clos de la Tech wines, we’re sharing where they’re available for tasting and purchase.

You can taste and buy Clos de la Tech at our store, The Half Moon Bay Wine & Cheese Company—which serves as the winery’s official tasting room—as well as at the following fine establishments:

We at Clos de la Tech have come to know Michael Acheson—Sommelier at the Village Pub in Woodside for two years—during our regular visits to the pub with friends and Cypress Semiconductor business associates. It’s a fabulous restaurant. In turn, we’ve shared with Michael our approach to winemaking, and he has had Clos de la Tech on his wine list since 2010.

“The Village Pub ownership is committed to having a strong wine program, and we’re especially committed to supporting our friends and neighbors,” Michael tells us. “We carry wines from the Santa Cruz Mountains on our list at all times to represent this area’s great producers.”

Currently, the Village Pub—which has an impressive 2,400 wines on its list—is pouring four 2006 Clos de la Tech vintages: Domaine du Docteur Rodgers, Domaine Lois Louise “Twisty Ridge,” Domaine Valeta, and Domaine Valeta “Sunny Slope.”

The wines are hard to come by because of our small production, but we’ve made sure the Village Pub always has something interesting from Clos de la Tech. Michael caters to many burgundy drinkers who understand and value our winemaking philosophy.

“Sometimes people come in and have heard of Clos de la Tech but have never had a chance to try it. Other times, they’re pinot-philes or burgundy drinkers who are looking for concentration and depth, for the big presence and mouthfeel that these wines offer,” Michael says.

“T.J. and Valeta have an old world frame of mind, so they produce a wine that benefits from decanting, and ages extremely well. We’ve poured the 2000, 2003, 2004 and 2006 vintages here, and it’s been wonderful to see how the wine develops secondary and tertiary qualities. That is a mark of high quality.”
